We will begin the year 2012 with Eva Mitala’s solo exhibition. She
participated in many group exhibitions in 2011, including art fairs in
Lithuania, Italy, Belgium, and exhibitions at Nerima Art Museum and
Nroom artspace. This will be our first time to hold her solo
exhibition.
Eva loves both traditional and contemporary Japanese cultures, and
this time, we will mainly have her paintings, collages and silk-screen
printings on display. We will also show her collective work titled
‘すばらしいせかい (A Wonderful World)’, a work in a form of a diary in which
she wrote down her memories during her past visits to Japan. It will
be offered 10,000 yen each. Why not choose your own
favorite page to bring back with you?
Unfortunately, Greece is currently facing hard times and the news
reported here in Japan tends to focus on its severe aspects. However,
Greece is a country prospering in contemporary art with a wide range
of artists and art lovers building a firm and high quality basis.
Through this exhibition, we would like to introduce this unique and
amusing art by a Greek artist to the people in Japan, and to present
the other side of Greece - its brighter side - which would be
different from what the mass media report us in our everyday lives.
After the earthquake occurred in March, many Greek artists and people
in the art world have supported us to restore Japan.
We hope the artists in Greece regain their stable activity bases as soon as possible.
